San Diego Swimming Pool Acid Wash / Stain Removal
What does my pool need an acid wash or a stain removal procedure? Depending on the nature of the staining (minerals, metals, or organics) and if the staining has multiple layers of build up, will determine if the pool or spa needs to have a pool acid wash or if you are in need of a stain removal process.
Pool acid washing is for the removal of mild mineral, metal, and/or organic staining. This process is performed with the swimming pool or spa drained and then there is a chemical solution applied to the plaster’s surface. It is then scrubbed and rinsed to ensure an even looking finish.
When there is heavy staining or various stains on top of each other, we use a stain identification kit to help diagnosis the specific types of staining. Once the stains have been determined, we can add all of the specific stain removing chemicals to the existing pool or spa water. All of these chemicals are safe and will not cause harm to your family or pets. This process usually takes just a few days though tough and stubborn stains may take up to 2 weeks.
This stain removal process is the safest, most effective way in removing unwanted staining and restoring the beauty to your pool or spa.
We highly recommend using a licensed professional when doing an acid wash procedure. If a pool acid wash is done improperly you can destroy the surface of the plaster immediately.
